The residence La Forêt near Saint Georges sur Loire, shelters about 50 adults afflicted with myopathy. It is a unique institution in France, the only one of its kind. The patients there fight against every minute, by organising outings, by doing theatre, playing music or various sports; they remain optimistic and gay. But they suffer on the inside from what life has offered them. Even though the affliction is mediatised every year through the Telethon, the daily lives of these patients is barely known. How does one live one’s life, as a man, as a woman, when afflicted by myopathy?
