At 40, Jean-Louis Pommier is well recognized and appreciated in the French jazz circles. He has played with the best of the lot.

But he has not forgotten the sound and the particular ambience of the rural orchestra that he debuted with.

In 2003, during the first part of the concert his group Qüntet gave at the Europa Jazz Festival, the harmony of a little town in the region played three pieces that he had composed specially for the occasion. At the end of the concert, moved, the orchestra conductor confided to the audience how happy the amateurs were to share this moment of music with a professional.

The experience was going to occur again, in a deeper sense in 2004. We followed their story. We made a portrait of a musician, and through him, the portrait of a tiny area in Sarthe where he lives, throwing light on the social and human aspects of this meeting, between connoisseurs of jazz and amateurs rooted deep in rural traditions.

This film is a testimony as to how this little world communicated and bound around music.
