24 Images proposes the recordings of two concerts held as part of "La Nuit de la voix" during the festival Europa Jazz ’07.
The first is a creation by Yves Robert titled « L’ARGENT ». Trombonist virtuoso who juggles nonchalantly between genres and styles, knowledgable composer but always narrative and melodious, Yves Robert has invented over the past 25 years a music that has fazed the frontiers between jazz, imrpovised music and contemporary music. Europa Jazz did not hesitate to invite him to present this latest creation: where words of a psychoanalyst, a trader and a philosopher are set to music. The result is quite unexpected.
The second part of the evening: David Chevallier & A Sei Voci «Gesualdo Variations »
This is the new project by David Chevalier, revolving around the most mysterious music and the most fascinating Italian composers of te 16th cetury: Carlo Gesualdo.
The project: Drown oneself in a selection of five-voice madrigals, grasp this sublime material to enhance its length, to compress it, to annotate it and thus move effortlessly from this master’s music and the polyphony of the 16th century to today’s music, written or improvised.
An extraordinary encounter of the David Chevalier Quarter with the A Sei Voci Ensemble for an astonishing creation.
