Since the full-scale war of 2022, Ukrainians have faced a stark dilemma: enlist to defend their homeland or flee for safety.

The Dakh Daughters chart a third course—an artistic offensive launched from abroad. Through piercing lyrics and unrestrained music, they project Ukraine’s voice across the world.

Celebrated on international stages, Ganna, Zo, Ruslana, Solomia and Bida are, above all, young mothers. They left Kyiv with their children and their own mothers, while some of their partners joined the army. Their stand highlights art’s power as a mass-awakening force—affirming Ukraine’s right to exist as a sovereign nation and, more broadly, upholding the democratic ideals shared throughout Europe.
